Naturopathy is a holistic style of treatment. It encompasses all aspects of the body and mind and looks at the interplay between all body systems rather than reducing it to one system or part.
It is a mode of intervention in which the aim is to facilitate the body's inherent ability to heal itself. Being able to do this requires identification and treatment of the cause, rather than just continued symptomatic treatment.
Finding the cause requires the ability to treat the person as a whole and an individual. Each individual has a complex interplay of factors affecting their health, which is completely unique to them. This may include physical, emotional, genetic, spiritual, environmental and social factors. Naturopathy encompasses and considers all of this in its treatment.
Naturopathy has a range of modalities that can be used in treatment including;
As each patient receives an individualised treatment plan it may include any number of these modalities.
An initial appointment or first consultation, is designed as an information collection session, that provides a deeper understanding of the patient as a whole. There are also a series of physical examinations performed such as, blood pressure, nail and tongue analysis and iridology.
An individualised treatment plan will be developed from here and evolved through follow-up sessions. Each plan is negotiated with the patient along the way and the process of working together will help to realise the most optimal results.
